We Will Match Your Gift

Meet the extraordinary women of Julia’s Circle – all mothers themselves – who have offered to match all donations to Mother’s Day for Peace. Julia’s Circle is named for Julia Ward Howe who proposed the establishment of a Mother’s Peace Day after the American Civil War. Thanks to these women’s vision and generosity, your Mother’s Day gift will go twice as far toward making the world safer for children and families everywhere.

Lucinda Watson

Lucinda holds Master’s degrees in Writing and Communication and taught organizational communication at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. She is the author of How They Achieved: Stories of Personal Achievement and Business Success, and a proud mother of three children.

“Having a peaceful world means as much to me as having a peaceful home: without one, you can’t have the other so recognizing our similarities rather than focusing on our differences is crucial to our long term survival as a planet.”

“They say timing is everything, and if they are right, we must do everything in our power to seize this once in a lifetime moment to end the threat of nuclear weapons. This time may not come again and we cannot afford to tell our children we failed to act. We can only afford to protect our future generations by building the political will to systematically eliminate all nuclear weapons.”

Sage Cowles

Minneapolis, MN

Trained as a dancer, Sage Fuller Cowles has made Minneapolis her home and produced critically acclaimed work as a dancer, choreographer, and performance artist while supporting pro-choice, anti-racism, and education causes. Sage serves on the boards of the Cunningham Dance Foundation (New York City), the Minnesota Schubert Center Steering Committee, and the advisory committee to the Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library.

“A great privilege in my life has been the opportunity to raise my four children in a safe and civically responsible environment. Creating that climate for others is the hope for our future on this planet.”

Susie Tompkins Buell
